Microsoft Office in Mass Frontier

Mass Frontier supports the Object Linking and Embedding (OLE) features of Microsoft Excel® and Microsoft Word® documents, i.e. these programs and their native data files can be opened inside Mass Frontier desktop. So you do not need to leave Mass Frontier to work with Excel and Word documents, as they become a part of Mass Frontier. This feature is especially useful for embedded Excel documents as regards data exchange between Mass Frontier modules and Excel worksheets.

Data Exchange between Microsoft Excel and Mass Frontier

There are three basic types of data you can exchange between Microsoft Excel and Mass Frontier: text tables, graphics, mass spectra, and trees in table format. The data can be exchanged using copy and paste commands. Mass Frontier does not support the import or export of native Excel files (*.xls) directly into Database Manager. However, Excel documents can be embedded into Mass Frontier (Microsoft Office | Open Microsoft Excel Document menu item) and data can be exchanged via the Clipboard. In this case a new window will open and the Excel menu and toolbars will appear.

Using Microsoft Excel as Spectrum Editor
Microsoft Excel can be used as a spectrum or tree editor for Mass Frontier by using the export and import features. This tool is useful if, for example, you have an experimental spectrum with a number of noise peaks at high m/z values that you want to delete, or you want to extract part of a spectrum that is important to your report or presentation. For obvious reasons you should not add, delete or alter prominent peaks.
