HighChem focuses on developing mass spectrometry solutions that enable chemists, medicinal scientists and biologists to turn complex analytical data into useful answers. Mastering the fragmentation prediction on an advanced level, HighChem Mass Frontier™ is the undisputed worldwide leading software for the interpretation, management and processing of mass spectral and chromatographic data in the area of small molecules. In addition to desktop solutions, HighChem develops library and cloud systems, and builds large data collections of fragmentation knowledge, experimental spectra and organism specific biochemical data that are indispensible in modern pharmaceutical, metabolomic, forensic and environmental applications. Our goal is to make the inherently difficult tasks of compound identification, spectra interpretation and chromatogram deconvolution simple and understandable in order to open doors for a wide spectrum of scientists to new emerging fields.

Founded in 1998 by Robert Mistrik, HighChem is based in Bratislava, Slovakia and relies on its team of fourteen talented scientists and software engineers - seven of whom have a PhD degree. HighChem is partnering with Thermo Fisher Scientific (TMO), the global provider of analytical instruments, laboratory equipment, consumables and reagents.

Research Projects 

Project EXCornsEED

Separation, fractionation and isolation of biologically active natural substances from corn oil and other side streams to be used in food, specialty chemicals and cosmetic markets.

The EXCornsEED project aims to exploit the convergence between science, chemistry, biology, engineering and biotechnology tools for the creation of new knowledge and innovative applications to develop and validate an integrated process of innovative and highly sustainable extraction, purification and concentration technologies to be applied to biorefineries side streams.

The objectives are the recovery of proteins and several other bio-active compounds and the preparation of these as ingredients for food, specialty chemicals and cosmetics markets. In EXCornsEED, HighChem will use their cutting-edge infrastructures, tools, knowledge and software, facilitating structure elucidation of known and unknown compounds in the provided feedstock and biomass.

This project has received funding from the Bio Based Industries Joint Undertaking under the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement n°792054”.

The maximum grant amount is 4,3 million EURO and the duration of the action will be 42 months as of 1. June 2018.
