Records (spectra, trees, chromatograms) can be copied or moved from one Database Manager window to another by using the cut, copy and paste functions. Records can also be copied or moved to different locations within a spreadsheet in the same Database Manager window. This permits clear organization and maintenance of your experimental data or search results.

Mass spectra can be exchanged between Database Manager and Microsoft Excel, using export and import features.

Cut and copy functions apply to selected records only. Since the Spreadsheet allows the selection of multiple contiguous records, you can efficiently copy or move even large number of records at once.

To cut or copy record(s):

1. Select one or more records in the Spreadsheet.
   
   
2. If Database Manager is an active window, press the Cut or Copy button in Database Manager or choose Edit | Cut or Edit | Copy in the main menu.

If you cut or copy a record the selected mass spectrum, in graphic format, will be simultaneously copied to the Windows Clipboard, in addition to the record. If you have selected more then one record, only the graphic of the spectrum in the first record will be copied to the Clipboard. This graphic spectrum representation can then be pasted to any Windows application. Graphics are copied to the Windows Clipboard in the newest 32-bit format (enhanced windows metafile), which is sometimes not supported by older 16-bit applications.

To paste record(s):

1. Select one record in the Spreadsheet where you want to paste record(s).
   
   
2. Press Paste button in any Database Manager window or choose Edit | Paste in the main menu.

A single spectrum or a tree copied in the Chromatogram Processor can be pasted to Database Manager. In this way you can extract spectral scans and move them to Database Manager for further processing.
